Jabulani... means "be happy"

Helping disadvantaged children is the focus of the Jabulani Challenge.

The funds raised support 2 wonderful charities, the SCDP and "shoes for planet earth" which have a lot in common:

  • founded and run by volunteers
  • focussed on children
  • niche based charities making a real difference

SCDP

The SCDP’s (Stellenbosch Community Development Program) was established in 2006 with the goal of improving the level of education for the children in Kyamandi. After identifying that most children were malnourished they realised they needed  to address their nutrition.

It has been proven that healthy children have improved concentration, perform better and have lower levels of aggression.

The SCDP now provide 1800 children with one meal a day and 60 families receive monthly food parcels. In addition the SCDP has expanded its activities to include:

  • After-school Care
  • Immunisation Programme
  • Vegetable Garden
  • Craft program for parents
  • Proud Parents Program
  • Proud-2-B-Me Youth Programme

Making a Real Difference

In a world of overwhelming issues and increasing scepticism, the SCDP is a great example of how a small group of volunteers can make a REAL difference on the happiness, health and education of so many kids.

The chart below shows the amazing impact they have had over 6 years on

In just 3 years they have reduced  the number of malnourished children from  900 to 275. (See the chart to the right)

…and the Jabulani Challenge is their largest cash donor.

Jabulani means “be happy” … with your help we can continue to support the great work the SCDP does do to improve the lives and happiness of so many children.
